● n. m. ►LANG * Sorte de langage assembleur rudimentaire, la différence entre celui-ci et l'autocode étant que ce dernier ne dispose même pas des quelques instructions "complexes" de l'autre, comme les macros. * À l'origine, ce fut un langage ou plutôt système de programmation créé par Alick E. Glennie en 1952 pendant ses loisirs à l'Université de Manchester. Selon The Language List - Version 1.8, septembre 1992 de Bill Kinnersley: "peut-être le premier compilateur rudimentaire ; il traduisait les instructions symboliques en langage machine pour l'ordinateur Mark I de Manchester, R-U. L'autocodage devint un terme générique pour désigner la programmation en langage assembleur symbolique et des versions d'Autocode ont été développées pour de nombreuses machines: ATLAS, Titan, Mercury et Pegasus de Ferranti, et les IBM 702 et 705".
